In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and related mechanical systems. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, refrigeration units, boilers, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment to ensure reliable operation. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC system components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, thermostats, electrical controls, and plumbing connections. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and building automation system (BAS) controls to accurately diagnose issues. Install new HVAC equipment such as air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems (including ammonia refrigeration), and mechanical systems in accordance with design specifications and safety standards. Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters to identify faults within electrical circuits or control panels. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and system conditions for ongoing maintenance planning. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, repairs needed, and maintenance procedures. Experience Proven experience as an HVAC service technician or in a similar field service role with a strong background in HVAC/R systems maintenance and repair. Construction experience or property maintenance background is highly desirable. Skilled in reading schematics and understanding HVAC design principles to facilitate accurate troubleshooting and repairs. Hands-on experience with HVAC system installation, mechanical systems repair, electrical diagnostics, plumbing work, and refrigeration is essential. Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, boiler operation, ammonia refrigeration systems, and appliance repair is preferred. Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, multimeters, ohmmeters; familiarity with mechanical systems repair techniques is required. EPA certification or equivalent licensing for refrigerant handling is mandatory. Ability to work independently in the field while adhering to safety protocols; strong problem-solving skills are a must.
