Job Description
The Town of Sharon / Public School Facilities Department is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Technician / Building Maintenance Technician. This position performs skilled HVAC maintenance and repair work across all municipal and school facilities. Additional responsibilities include general building maintenance and repair tasks.

Key Duties
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on fans, blowers, motors, filters, belts, compressors, Variable Frequency Drives, AC vents, ducts, pumps, heat exchangers, chilled water, hot water, and other fluid systems.
Monitor, calibrate, and adjust air-handling systems as needed.
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace HVAC/R equipment, including packaged rooftop units, oil burners, gas burners, split systems, chillers, pumps, refrigerated air dryers, heating equipment, VRF heat pumps, air compressors, and related systems.
Complete repairs and tasks as directed by the Director of Facilities, School Principal, or designee.
Assist with building security, inspections, and other duties as required.
Coordinate building repairs with the Director of Facilities or designee.
Required Expertise, Certifications, and Experience
Current and valid driver's license.
Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License (required).
EPA 608 Universal Certification (required).
3-5 years of experience in commercial HVAC systems, equipment, and controls.
Knowledge of Building Management Systems, specifically Zenergy, Stellar, and pneumatic controls.
Highly Preferred:
Massachusetts Oil Burner Certificate
Massachusetts Sheet Metal Journeyman License
Experience operating and maintaining oil- and gas-fired heating systems and boilers
Ability to work independently and safely using ladders, lifts, and other equipment.
Ability to read color-coded prints and follow verbal and written instructions.
Availability for extra hours and emergency response as needed.
Snow emergency response is required.
Building Maintenance & Preventative Maintenance Responsibilities
Conduct inspections of school and town buildings as directed.
Maintain clean and safe mechanical spaces.
Work collaboratively with Facilities Department staff as required.
Education, Experience, and Requirements
Must pass Sharon CORI and fingerprinting requirements.
High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma.
Relevant vocational training certificates.
Physical Requirements
Moderate to heavy physical effort is required. The employee must be able to walk or stand for extended periods, sit, speak, hear, and use hands to operate equipment. Occasional lifting of objects up to 75 pounds is required. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
