Maintenance VI HVAC Mechanic

General Purpose of Position Under the supervision of the Supervisors of Facilities and the Manager of Facilities, the HVAC Mechanic installs,maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units, major appliances and controls,thermostats, and other equipment related to air movement and quality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Position 1. Uses the appropriate test equipment to take readings of indoor air quality in all buildings.2. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigerationequipment, major appliances, thermostats, food services equipment, and various environmental controlsystems.3. Documents on work orders when refrigerant is used and recovered.4. Inspects HVAC and refrigeration equipment for refrigerant leaks.5. Has strong electrical troubleshooting skills and knowledge.6. Has experience with Computerized Energy Management Systems / Building Automation Systems - Metasys.7. Troubleshoots a variety of equipment types and makes necessary repairs.8. Advises supervisor when equipment should be replaced versus repaired.9. Assumes the responsibility of purchasing supplies and materials (at supervisor's discretion) and keeps inventories of same.10. Assumes willingness to work beyond an 8-hour day and responds to emergency situations as directed.11. Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.12. Maintains regular, on-time attendance.13. Completes paperwork accurately and turns in within designated timeframe.14. Has the ability to use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, on a frequentbasis.15. Has the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.16. Has the ability to see details of objects, including color, shade, and brightness to inspect and evaluateequipment as well as monitor gauges, dials, and output to ensure proper working conditions.17. Has the ability to climb a ladder, bend or twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to position self to maintain andservice equipment on a frequent basis.18. Has the ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds for purposes of installation and repair,on a frequent basis.19. Has the ability to measure, cut, bend, thread, solder, and braze pipe.(over)

Minimum Requirements of the Position 1. Has graduated from high school or has equivalent reading and mathematics skills.

2. Has good interpersonal communication skills.

3. Holds a valid driver's license.

4. Has basic computer skills including the ability to use maintenance work order system - School Dude and

perform internet searches.

5. Is eligible to meet AHERA training requirements within 30 days of hire.

6. Has received vocational education or equivalent experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of

heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration equipment, major appliances, and related equipment

preferred.

7. Has experience using air quality test equipment preferred and interpreting results.

8. Has strong electrical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot and make wiring repairs and connections

preferred.

9. Has the ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints preferred.

10. Has obtained or is willing to obtain a Type 1 and Type 2 or Universal Certificate from an EPA Approved

Section 608 of the Clean Air Act program.

SALARY The current salary range for this Maintenance

VI / HVAC

Mechanic position for the year 2026-2027 fiscal year is

$57,886-$67,735. The salary assigned within this range will be based on creditable experience and training. Advanced

preparation increments based on degree conferral and longevity increments are in addition to the base salary. An
