Journeyman Pipefitter / Welder / HVAC Mechanic (Union)

Job Description

Job Details Benefits:
Union benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Pension, RSP) for union-affiliated employees (Steamfitters UA Local 602 or Plumbers Local 5). Health, dental, and vision coverage, and 401(k) with company match are available for non-union hires. All employees receive paid time off and 10 paid holidays.
Supplemental Pay:
Premium pay/additional compensation for active Welding and Medical Gas (Med Gas) or additional certifications. Job Description MAGA Mechanical Contractors, Inc. seeks skilled, journeyman-level Steamfitters and HVAC Mechanics for work primarily in the DC, MD, and VA industrial, commercial, and federal facilities market.
Responsibilities System Installation:
Layout, assemble, install, and maintain low and high-pressure pipe systems and HVAC equipment for industrial, commercial, and federal facilities.
HVAC System Operation:
Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems function and operation to effectively install, diagnose, and maintain complex mechanical setups.
Pipe Fabrication & Joining:
Cut, thread, bend, and fabricate pipe sections using specialized hand and power tools according to technical specifications. Perform high-quality welding and brazing on carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and medical gas piping systems.
Document Interpretation:
Read, analyze, and work directly from construction contract documents. This includes following and interpreting project scopes of work, plans, specifications, and submittals.
Testing, Inspection & Balancing:
Test completed piping and HVAC systems to troubleshoot leaks or defects, and collaborate with Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) Technicians to properly balance HVAC systems.
Collaboration:
Work alongside the project foreman, superintendents, and other trades to ensure jobs are completed safely and on schedule.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to OSHA, facility owner, and UA Local 602 safety standards, including proper PPE use.
Qualifications & Requirements Licensing:
Hold a valid Maryland HVAC/R Journeyman or Master license and a Universal CFC/EPA certification.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of mechanical systems function, operations, and sequence of control for large-scale facilities.
Certifications:
Active Welding certifications (e.g., UA, ASME) and/or Medical Gas certification are highly preferred and eligible for additional compensation.
Union Affiliation:
Be currently affiliated with or willing to organize under Steamfitters UA Local 602.
Background Check:
Pass federal background checks for secure facility access throughout the
DC/MD/VA
region.
Transportation & Travel:
A company vehicle may be provided. Must hold a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. A willingness to travel out of state and outside of Local 602 jurisdiction for project opportunities is a plus, though not required.
Pay:
$57.30 - $65.00 per hour
