Duties Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems. Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs. Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults within electrical systems and components. Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal operation and longevity; include filter replacements, system calibrations, and preventive inspections. Repair plumbing and mechanical systems associated with HVAC units; troubleshoot refrigeration issues including ammonia refrigeration systems when applicable. Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment to perform system repairs efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs clearly to clients and ensuring their satisfaction with the work performed. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and logs of all maintenance activities for compliance and future reference. Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems in accordance with project specifications and building codes. Support property maintenance efforts by ensuring HVAC systems operate reliably in commercial or residential settings. Qualifications Proven experience as an HVAC technician or service technician with construction experience preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge including HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration), electrical diagnostics, plumbing skills, and building automation systems familiarity. Ability to read schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and HVAC design plans accurately. Experience with equipment troubleshooting across various systems such as boilers, air conditioning units, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), and mechanical systems repair. Proficiency with hand tools, electrical testing devices like ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment necessary for system repair. Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants; additional certifications related to HVAC/R are advantageous. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience as a van driver is a plus. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards.
