Commercial | Mission Critical | Mechanical/HVAC Commissioning Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Mechanical/HVAC Commissioning Technician to verify system readiness, support equipment startup, perform testing and troubleshooting, and ensure mechanical and HVAC systems are fully operational before commissioning and turnover. This is a hands-on field role requiring strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, controls, and building automation systems . You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, controls and electrical contractors, TAB teams, the General Contractor, Commissioning Authority, and owner representatives.
The goal is simple:
identify and resolve issues before they impact startup, commissioning, schedule, or final acceptance. Key Responsibilities Perform system-readiness and pre-startup inspections Verify mechanical, electrical, controls, and TAB prerequisites before startup Identify deficiencies and track corrective actions through completion Support startup and commissioning of commercial HVAC/mechanical equipment Verify refrigeration piping installation, evacuation, charging, and startup Test equipment operation, capacity, sequences, alarms, safeties, and interlocks Support pre-functional, functional performance, and integrated systems testing Troubleshoot mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and controls issues Inspect and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, controls wiring, and related devices Verify BAS points and sequences of operation Inspect mechanical equipment electrical installations for project and NEC compliance Review mechanical, electrical, controls drawings, P&IDs, equipment submittals, and IOM manuals Coordinate startup and commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and project teams Participate in commissioning, readiness, GC, and owner walks Communicate deficiencies, schedule risks, and system status to project stakeholders Complete pre-functional checklists, testing records, deficiency reports, and commissioning documentation in CxAlloy and project-specific platforms Upload photographs, test data, and deficiency-resolution documentation Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or trade school graduate EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required 5+ years of hands-on HVAC, mechanical, commissioning, or related experience Commercial HVAC experience strongly preferred Strong mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings Knowledge of equipment startup and commissioning processes Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency Strong documentation and communication skills Leadership, coaching, coordination, and problem-solving abilities

Certification for work around energized electrical equipment Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record Ability to safely operate aerial lifts Travel & Schedule Requirements Regular travel is required and may involve extended project assignments lasting several months , including overnight stays outside the employee's home state. Candidates must be flexible for varying schedules, weekends, overtime, and emergency service requirements based on project needs.
