Highly competitive pay based on experience and demonstrated ability NC Quality Air is hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician who can accurately troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems. We are looking for a true service professional—not someone who simply changes parts. The right candidate will understand system operation, use proper diagnostic procedures, communicate findings clearly, and give homeowners honest options for repairing or improving their systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and repair residential and light commercial HVAC equipment Troubleshoot heat pumps, air conditioners, gas furnaces, air handlers, package units, mini-splits, rooftop units, and indoor-air-quality equipment Diagnose variable-speed, inverter-driven, and fully communicating HVAC systems Read wiring diagrams, fault histories, manufacturer data, and technical service information Test electrical components, motors, controls, sensors, compressors, refrigerant circuits, airflow, static pressure, and system performance Perform preventive maintenance and comprehensive HVAC tune-ups Identify the root cause of system failures instead of relying on guesswork or unnecessary parts replacement Clearly explain findings, recommended repairs, pricing, and available options to homeowners Document diagnoses, repairs, equipment information, and jobsite photos accurately Recognize when a repair may not be the best long-term option and properly introduce a comfort advisor when appropriate Recommend indoor-air-quality, humidity-control, surge-protection, airflow, and system-performance solutions when they benefit the customer Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle Participate in technical training and continuing education Follow company safety standards and all applicable codes and manufacturer procedures Provide a professional, respectful customer experience on every call

QUALIFICATIONS

At least three years of HVAC service and repair experience Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability Experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC systems Experience diagnosing variable-speed and fully communicating equipment Understanding of refrigerant circuits, electrical systems, airflow, static pressure, combustion, controls, and system sequencing Ability to use digital gauges, electrical meters, temperature instruments, static-pressure tools, and other diagnostic equipment EPA Section 608 certification Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Ability to work safely in attics, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor conditions Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills Professional appearance and a customer-first attitude Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed
