Long Island, NY Pay:

$40-$45/hour based on experience JNJ AIR is a growing HVAC company looking for an experienced, dependable Lead HVAC Mechanic who can handle service work as well as HVAC installation work when needed. We are looking for a well rounded mechanic who doesn't need to be micromanaged someone we can trust to diagnose and repair equipment, handle service and maintenance calls independently, wire and start up newly installed systems, and work alongside our installation crews when needed. This position will include a mix of service, maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment start-ups, and installation work. When the service schedule is lighter, you will work with our installation crews on residential and commercial HVAC projects. We want someone who can take a company truck and be trusted to handle whatever the day calls for. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems Perform AC, heating, heat pump, rooftop/package unit and mini-split service Troubleshoot electrical, controls, refrigerant and airflow problems Perform preventative maintenance Wire, start up and commission newly installed HVAC systems Assist with and perform HVAC installations when needed Equipment replacements and change-outs Install air handlers, condensers, furnaces, heat pumps, mini-splits and package units Run refrigerant piping, drains, low-voltage wiring and related HVAC materials Read wiring diagrams and equipment manuals Work independently on service calls and alongside our installation crews Communicate professionally with customers Keep company vehicle, tools and jobs organized What We're Looking For 5+ years of HVAC field experience preferred Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Strong electrical and controls knowledge Strong service AND installation experience Comfortable working independently Experience with central AC, heat pumps, gas heating, mini-splits and rooftop/package units EPA certification Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Reliable, organized and professional Able to take responsibility for a job from start to finish This is NOT an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced, well-rounded HVAC mechanic who can handle service calls independently and also perform quality installation work when needed.
