Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/R systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and mechanical systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute system layouts and troubleshoot issues. Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on HVAC systems, utilizing tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults efficiently. Troubleshoot equipment problems related to refrigeration, ammonia refrigeration systems, plumbing connections, and building automation systems. Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment to perform system repairs, replacements, and upgrades with precision. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system issues clearly and recommending effective solutions. Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, parts used, and system performance data to ensure compliance and quality standards. Skills Proven construction experience with a strong understanding of mechanical systems installation and repair. Service technician experience with HVAC/R systems in commercial or industrial environments. Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately for troubleshooting and installation purposes. Knowledge of HVAC design principles and building automation systems for optimized system performance. Familiarity with plumbing, electrical systems diagnostics, appliance repair, and boiler operation. Mechanical knowledge of HVAC system components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, pumps, valves, and controls. Skilled in using hand tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, multimeters, ohmmeters, and refrigerant recovery devices. Experience with equipment troubleshooting across refrigeration units—including ammonia refrigeration—and HVAC system maintenance. Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about system issues and solutions. Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants; knowledge of electrical diagnostics is essential. Ability to operate a van or company vehicle safely as a designated van driver for field service calls.
