Mechanical HVAC Service Team Lead, Field Operations Why this role matters At Johnson Barrow, we help engineers, contractors, and building owners deliver energy-efficient, reliable, and comfortable buildings across the Pacific Northwest. As our Field Operations Team Lead in Portland, you'll orchestrate people, schedules, and technical resources so every service call meets the mark—safely, efficiently, and professionally. What you'll do Provide day-to-day leadership and accountability for Field Service Technicians and Lead Service Technicians. Own scheduling, workforce planning, and resource allocation to hit customer timelines and internal targets. Track productivity, service quality, and documentation standards; coach to improve results. Run safety meetings, conduct field observations, and implement corrective actions to keep compliance tight. Support technician development through coaching, performance reviews, training plans, and certification pathways. Identify and close skill gaps with Lead Service Technicians; elevate communication and report quality. Maintain readiness by reviewing tooling, equipment status, and service vehicle inventories. Resolve escalated customer concerns quickly and professionally, building strong, lasting relationships. Continuously improve operations, service delivery, and workforce utilization. Partner with Service Leadership, Sales, and Administrative teams to streamline coordination and communications. Meet with Equipment Sales frequently to align on upcoming work and execution strategies. Provide hands-on technical support and training; tackle complex startups, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance. Serve as a backup field resource during emergencies, staffing gaps, and high-priority events. What you bring Leadership experience in HVAC field service or similar mechanical environments. Advanced diagnostic and startup skills for complex building systems. Proven ability to manage schedules, balance resources, and uphold safety and quality standards. Clear, consistent communication and a coaching mindset. Cross-functional collaboration with service, sales, and admin teams. EPA certification is mandatory.
