About the Role As an HVAC Technical Instructor, you will serve as a subject matter expert dedicated to elevating the proficiency of our service and installation teams. You will design and implement comprehensive training programs that empower technicians to master complex diagnostics, improve safety compliance, and deliver exceptional service quality in residential environments. Responsibilities Design and facilitate engaging technical training curricula, including hands-on labs and virtual sessions, to enhance technician skill sets. Provide direct mentorship and field coaching to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce callbacks, and drive overall performance. Conduct thorough skill assessments and ride-alongs to identify knowledge gaps and create personalized development pathways. Deliver advanced instruction on gas furnaces, heat pumps, refrigeration cycles, and modern ductless systems. Promote a culture of safety by ensuring all field practices align with OSHA, EPA, and industry-best standards. Collaborate with leadership to integrate emerging technologies and new refrigerants into daily service operations. Maintain detailed documentation of training progress, certifications, and technician competency levels. Required Skills 7+ years of hands-on residential HVAC experience with deep expertise in electrical troubleshooting and combustion analysis. Current EPA 608 Universal Certification. Proven ability to effectively coach, mentor, or instruct technical staff. Strong grasp of airflow dynamics, static pressure testing, and IAQ solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly. Valid driver's license and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards. Preferred Skills NATE certification or specific HVAC manufacturer credentials. Prior experience in a formal technical training or instructional role. Familiarity with field service management software like ServiceTitan. OSHA 10 or 30 certification. Experience developing structured career progression programs for field technicians.
