  • $100 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Public permitting Master HVAC license HVAC Full Job Description A Unique Opportunity for an Experienced or Retired HVAC Professional We are a well-established residential HVAC contractor in the Twin Cities seeking an experienced HVAC professional who currently holds one or more Master Competency Cards for the Cities of Minneapolis and/or St.
Paul . This is not a traditional field position . There is no expectation that you will run service calls, install equipment every day, work a regular schedule, or return to full-time HVAC work. We are looking for a knowledgeable, dependable professional who would be willing to serve as a Master Competency Card Holder/qualifying individual for our organization, as permitted by applicable city requirements. This could be an excellent opportunity for a retired or semi-retired HVAC technician, installer, service manager, contractor, or longtime industry professional who would like to put their credentials and experience to use while earning meaningful additional monthly income. Competency Cards We Are Seeking We are interested in individuals holding one or more current Master-level competency cards in: Master Fuel Gas Fitter / Gas Fitter Master Refrigeration Master Warm Air / Ventilation Master Steam & Hot Water / Hot Water Equivalent qualifying Minneapolis or St. Paul Master credentials You do not need to hold all of these cards to be considered. Candidates holding multiple Master cards are especially encouraged to apply. If you currently hold cards with only Minneapolis or St. Paul but are eligible for reciprocal credentials with the other city, we would also like to speak with you. What This Role Involves The position is expected to require a very limited time commitment.
Responsibilities may include:
Allowing the company to associate your applicable Master Competency Card(s) with its appropriate trade licensing, where permitted Maintaining applicable competency cards in good standing Providing reasonable Master-level oversight as required by applicable regulations Being available periodically by phone for licensing, permitting, code, or inspection-related questions Occasionally communicating with a Minneapolis or St. Paul inspector Occasionally attending an inspection, meeting, or jobsite when your presence is reasonably required Assisting with competency-card-related documentation or renewals when necessary Serving as an experienced technical resource on an occasional basis This is not a daily field position and does not require a traditional full-time work schedule. Ideal Candidate This opportunity may be especially attractive if you are: Retired from the HVAC industry Semi-retired and looking for supplemental income A former HVAC contractor or business owner A former HVAC service manager or installation manager A longtime commercial or residential HVAC technician A longtime HVAC installer An experienced Master-level tradesperson who no longer wants to work in the field every day We value experience, professionalism, dependability, and a strong understanding of HVAC installation practices and applicable mechanical codes.
Required Qualifications Candidates must:
Currently hold at least one applicable Master-level Minneapolis or St. Paul Competency Card , or have qualifying credentials eligible for reciprocity Keep applicable credentials active and in good standing Be legally eligible to serve in the required Master/qualifying capacity Be reasonably available for occasional communication with company personnel or city inspectors Be willing to assist with occasional licensing, permitting, inspection, or compliance matters Have extensive professional experience in the HVAC/mechanical trades Compensation Compensation will be based upon the number and type of qualifying Master Competency Cards held and made available for the required licensing relationship.
Compensation range:
$500
  • 1,000 per month, per qualifying Master Competency Card.
An individual holding multiple qualifying cards may earn several thousand dollars per month , depending upon credentials, city coverage, responsibilities, and the final arrangement. This is intended to be a long-term relationship , not a short-term assignment. Schedule Extremely flexible.
There are:
No regularly scheduled service calls No daily installation responsibilities No standard 40-hour workweek No on-call service rotation Most involvement should be occasional and scheduled as needed.
