The Role:
The Journeyman/Journeywoman HVAC Technician plans layout, installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related equipment to provide the safe condition and operation of all HVAC fixtures and systems according to the required specification of the task or project.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems in commercial and industrial environments, rooftop units, ductwork, chillers, split systems, control systems, and whatever duties are assigned. Journeyman/Journeywoman HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety of the crew including: Install and repair HVAC systems, ductwork, ventilation systems, thermostats, refrigeration lines, and related components following mechanical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints. Install and repair heating and cooling equipment including rooftop units, split systems, package units, exhaust fans, air handlers, and chillers. Install and connect refrigerant piping, condensate drains, duct systems, controls, and HVAC equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints. Diagnose and resolve problems in HVAC systems and equipment using testing instruments and diagnostic tools. Test HVAC systems to ensure compatibility, efficiency, and safety of components using testing instruments. Measure, cut, assemble, and install ductwork, piping, insulation, and HVAC equipment using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools. Receive and complete work orders. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. Maintain inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. Work with building principals and supervisors.
Requirements:
Valid Texas HVAC Technician Certification or License (TDLR). Must be available to work nights if needed. Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills, professional presence. Valid driver's license. Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, controls, and operating principles. Knowledge of local Mechanical and HVAC Codes. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Diagnose and resolve problems. Clean background.
Pay:
$45.00 - $50.00 per hour
