Duties Lead the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, heating equipment, refrigeration systems, boilers, and building automation systems. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot electrical systems within HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) setups. Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately service complex mechanical and electrical systems. Perform equipment troubleshooting to identify faults quickly and efficiently while ensuring compliance with safety standards such as EPA regulations for refrigerants. Conduct HVAC system repairs with precision using hand tools and mechanical systems repair techniques; ensure all work meets quality standards. Oversee HVAC system installation projects from start to finish, coordinating with other trades such as plumbing and electrical teams when necessary. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system issues clearly and recommending appropriate solutions to clients. Maintain detailed service records, work logs, and reports for all performed tasks; ensure documentation aligns with company policies. Mentor junior technicians on technical procedures, safety protocols, and best practices for HVAC system maintenance. Drive a company vehicle responsibly while adhering to all traffic laws; ensure proper vehicle maintenance. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician with a strong background in HVAC system repair and maintenance. Commercial experience is highly desirable for understanding building systems integration. Knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, HVAC design principles, and building automation systems. Mechanical knowledge related to refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), boilers, air conditioning units, and mechanical systems repair. Proficiency with electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters; ability to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively. Hands-on experience with HVAC/R equipment installation and maintenance across various settings. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications related to HVAC or refrigeration are a plus. Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently; familiarity with plumbing systems is advantageous. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; willingness to operate company van or service vehicle as needed.
