Position Overview The Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and processes in a process/chemical manufacturing environment. This role leads maintenance and reliability initiatives, supports production performance and safety objectives, manages technical projects from design through commissioning, and drives continuous improvement using reliability tools and compliance with EHS, OSHA and EPA requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize plant reliability, availability and performance. Manage and optimize the work order system (CMMS) and SAP transactions to ensure timely planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance activities. Perform troubleshooting, repair and upgrades of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics systems to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation. Develop and implement reliability programs and methodologies including FMEA, RCA, PSM and other reliability improvement processes. Plan and execute capital and improvement projects using project management best practices (PMP/CRL), including scope definition, cost control, commissioning and handover. Support process and chemical manufacturing operations by identifying process improvement opportunities and resolving technical issues impacting quality, yield or throughput. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and corporate EHS standards; conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations and corrective actions. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or related technical field. 3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing or chemical manufacturing with responsibility for industrial maintenance, reliability and plant engineering. Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial environment. Proven ability using reliability tools and methodologies (FMEA, RCA, PSM) and asset reliability programs a plus. Experience with work order systems/CMMS and SAP for maintenance planning, scheduling and materials management.
Certifications preferred:
CMRP, CRL, PMP or similar credentials. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA and EHS regulatory requirements and demonstrated experience driving safety and environmental compliance.
