What to Expect Tesla is hiring a highly motivated, hands-on Mechanical Engineer for the Energy Manufacturing Engineering team - helping build a world of amazing abundance through scalable, sustainable energy solutions. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to design, build, and optimize high-quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that power Tesla Energy products at scale. What You'll Do Develop manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and workstations to support prototype builds, early production, and medium-to-high-volume ramp (including conceptual design, layout optimization for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency) Identify, specify, and procure necessary equipment and tooling for all manufacturing processes Balance product specs, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time when conceptualizing and developing equipment Collaborate with equipment integrators and vendors to design, build, and deliver custom equipment and fixtures for scaled production Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) feedback to the design team to improve process capability, yield, and quality Support equipment builds, installation, debugging, validation, duplication, and fine-tuning to achieve production readiness Conduct thorough testing, validation, and acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) of installed machinery, both on-site and off-site to ensure robustness, reliability, and quality standards What You'll Bring 2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA) Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (prefer Fanuc) Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation Degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $82,440 - $147,960/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
