This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, altering, and repairing building-related mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water, fire/life-safety, and utility systems . $27/hour This is an essential facilities position in a 24/7/365 operation . Employees must be available for occasional weekends, holidays, emergency response, and on-call needs as required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair building utility and mechanical systems. Maintain cooling towers, chillers, pumps, motors, motor control centers, transformers, switchgear, wiring, receptacles, lighting, and fire alarm systems. Conduct daily building rounds and operational checks. Respond to alarms, leaks, equipment failures, and facility emergencies. Work with Building Management Systems (BMS), fire alarm systems, and equipment-monitoring technologies . Analyze system or equipment issues and take appropriate corrective action, including repair, replacement, or escalation. Coordinate building-system shutdowns while minimizing disruption to operations. Complete preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, work orders, and documentation using CMMS software . Change and safely handle facility gas cylinders as required. Move and load salt for building water-softening systems. Order parts, supplies, and materials and maintain inventory. Complete pass-on logs, reports, and other required facility documentation. Check roadways and surrounding facility areas and clear debris as needed. Assist with additional facilities and plant-operations duties as required. Requirements Military affiliation preferred, not required : U.S. Veteran, National Guard member, Reservist, and/or Military Spouse. Minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining, repairing, or installing mechanical systems , or applicable trade/vocational certification plus at least 6 months of related experience , preferred. Knowledge of plant operations and utility systems , including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, water, and building systems. Knowledge of building and fire codes, building construction techniques, materials, tools, and safe work practices . Previous mechanical repair and maintenance experience preferred. Hands-on trade experience in one or more areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, or related mechanical trades preferred. Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency facility needs. Must be available for occasional weekends, holidays, emergency response, and on-call coverage .
