Our shop handles mechanical repair and refurbishment work that most shops don't attempt — including EV2 disconnect switch bearing assemblies, switch mechanism overhauls, contact refurbishment, and precision component repair for substations and switchyards. The work requires someone who can diagnose a mechanical failure, understand why it happened, and execute a clean repair. This is not assembly-line work. What you'll do Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, and refurbish high-voltage switch mechanisms and components — including EV2 disconnect switch bearing assemblies, operating mechanisms, and contact sets Identify failure modes: galvanic corrosion, seal breakdown, bearing wear, mechanical binding, contact erosion Execute precision mechanical repairs — parts replacement, surface prep, reassembly to spec, torque and fit verification Perform functional testing and quality inspection before components ship Maintain accurate work records, part documentation, and repair notes Communicate clearly with the operations lead on job status, parts needs, and any issues found during tear-down Handle incoming and outgoing equipment with care — this gear belongs to utilities running live infrastructure What we're looking for

Required:

2+ years of hands-on mechanical repair, maintenance, or refurbishment experience — industrial, electrical equipment, heavy equipment, marine, or similar Strong mechanical aptitude: comfortable disassembling complex assemblies, diagnosing problems, and reassembling correctly Comfortable using hand tools, torque wrenches, measuring instruments, and precision fastening Detail-oriented and methodical — you don't rush a repair and you catch problems before they leave the shop Reliable, self-directed, and able to manage your own work queue without hand-holding Preferred (not required — we'll train the right person): Experience with electrical switch gear, disconnect switches, or substation equipment Familiarity with bearing assemblies, O-ring seals, and corrosion failure modes Any background in utility, industrial maintenance, or power distribution work About the environment This is a working production shop — not a corporate office. The right candidate is comfortable in a machine-shop / industrial environment, takes pride in clean, accurate work, and doesn't need a polished workspace to stay focused.
