Job Description

 The plant helper utility, under general supervision, performs laboring duties and assists other classifications in and around the plant. Will be trained in the use of hand tools and power tools. Will also maintain grounds and the inside areas of the plant including custodial duties. May perform the duties of a custodian. Must have high school diploma or GED. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation. Performs work in as safe manner. Complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures. Performs all work that they are qualified and trained to do in a manner to protect themselves, their fellow employees and the public from injury. Helps higher classification workers in all types of plant and equipment maintenance. Uses all types of hand and power tools to perform the work. Helps with turbine, boiler and turbine and boiler auxiliaries' maintenance. Greases and changes oil in plant equipment. Performs a variety of laboring type duties in and around the plant and the plant grounds such as: cleaning up coal spills, mowing, cutting weeds, shoveling snow, loading and unloading supplies and materials.
Operates equipment such as:
fork lifts, bobcat, dump truck, vacuum truck, powered cleaning equipment, mowers and pickups. Leads, trains and instructs other employees in their work.
