Job Description

Assembly/Disassembly:
Traction Motor Technician/Mechanic No experience required should be mechanically inclined
  • Full-time 1st and 2nd shifts. 1st shift M-F 6:00 am
  • 2:30 PM, extra hours 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM and Saturday 6:00 AM
  • 11:00 AM 2nd shift M-F 4:30 PM
  • 1:00 AM, extra hours 2:00 AM, 3:00 AM and Saturday 11:00 AM
  • 4:00 PM 2nd shift employees will have to start on 1st shift to be fully trained and then move to 2nd shift after training is completed.
R&W Machine established in 1946 is an 80-year-old diverse manufacturer and assembler of heavy industrial machined components, located in Bedford Park, Illinois, three (3) miles southwest of Chicago's Midway Airport. At R&W Machine, Quality is a Tradition. Our in-house core capabilities include OEM manufacturing & aftermarket, precision production machining, and assembly/disassembly of large parts. Full-time 1st and 2nd shifts available. Our in-house core capabilities include
Large Part Precision Machining:
Turning, Milling/Drilling/Boring, Grinding. Assembly Services include Combo Processing, Wheelset Processing, Traction Motor Re-Qualification & Triage (New, Repair, Remanufactured). Industries Served include Oil/Gas, Contract Manufacturing (Job Shop), Alternative Energy, Earth Moving / Off Road, Railway, Agriculture.
Responsibilities and Skills Required:
Perform electrical test and documents cause of failure. Coil and Leads/Cable inspection and replacement. Perform brazing on internal coil and leads. Document final electrical and mechanical test results. Follow proper procedures to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors on job status and issues.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, electrical motor testing, or related fields is a plus (not required). Familiarity with assembly tools, equipment, and electrical testing equipment is a plus. Ability to handle physical workload, including lifting, standing, and repetitive motion. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on work environment. Work Environment Manufacturing/shop floor setting. Exposure to machine noise, brazing/soldering fumes, and industrial equipment. Climate may vary seasonally depending on facility ventilation/HVAC.

  • We offer overtime after 40 hours per week at 1 ½ hourly rate.
