High-Performance Transmission Builder WP Developments | Otterbein, Indiana WP Developments is looking for a mechanically talented, motivated person to join our team as a High-Performance Transmission Builder. Transmission experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person. We are specifically interested in candidates with backgrounds in aircraft/airline mechanics, machining, industrial maintenance, precision assembly, automotive performance, diesel, or other mechanically demanding fields. What matters most to us is how you think and work. We need someone who is mechanically intelligent, has strong common sense, pays attention to details, and genuinely wants to learn. What You'll Do Build and assemble high-performance automatic transmissions Disassemble and inspect transmissions and components Identify wear, damage, and potential causes of failure Measure components and verify proper tolerances and clearances Follow detailed build procedures and specifications Learn the function and interaction of internal transmission components Maintain a clean, organized work area Work with our team to continuously improve build processes and product quality Develop the skills necessary to build increasingly complex performance applications Who We're Looking For You do not need to already be a transmission builder. We would rather train someone with the right mechanical aptitude, work ethic, and mindset than hire someone with years of experience who isn't willing to learn our processes.

Have excellent mechanical aptitude Understand how mechanical systems work, not just how to replace parts Have strong common sense and problem-solving ability Be extremely detail-oriented Be comfortable working with measurements, tolerances, and precision components Be able to follow procedures consistently Take pride in doing a job correctly Ask questions and want to understand why something works Be dependable and self-motivated Have the drive to continually improve Be willing to learn from mistakes and feedback Work well independently and as part of a team Backgrounds That Translate Well Experience in any of the following is a plus: Aircraft / airline maintenance or A&P mechanics Machining or CNC Industrial machinery or equipment maintenance Precision mechanical assembly Engines, transmissions, or drivetrain systems Motorsports or performance automotive Welding or fabrication Manufacturing An A&P license is not required, and previous transmission-building experience is not required. What Makes This Different This isn't a basic remove-and-replace mechanic position. WP Developments builds transmissions for performance applications where precision, attention to detail, problem-solving, and understanding why components fail matter. You'll have the opportunity to learn a specialized trade and work with high-performance drivetrain components, testing, failure analysis, and real-world performance applications. We're looking for someone who wants to become exceptionally good at a difficult mechanical skill - not someone simply looking for their next job.
