Job Details:
Job Summary The Building & Grounds Technician is responsible for supporting the upkeep, functionality, and appearance of company facilities, equipment, vehicles, and grounds. This position provides general building and grounds maintenance, assists with facility infrastructure repairs, maintains company-owned equipment and vehicles, and provides backup support to the Wastewater Treatment and Refrigeration departments. The role helps ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained operating environment. Responsibilities Perform general maintenance and repair of company buildings, facilities, equipment, and vehicles. Conduct ammonia equipment inspections and operational checks as required. Repair and maintain facility floors, curbs, and related structures. Maintain company grounds, including snow and ice removal activities. Operate and maintain company vehicles, rolling stock, and mobile equipment in accordance with company policies and safety requirements. Repair and replace facility lighting components. Perform facility plumbing repairs and maintenance. Serve as a backup operator for the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Remove trash and debris from facility property. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and work areas. Assist with roof repairs and facility cleanup projects. Respond to emergency maintenance situations and support overtime, weekend, holiday, and call-in maintenance needs as required. Safely utilize hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and work around industrial machinery and facility systems. Apply mechanical troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve equipment and facility issues. Prioritize and complete assigned work accurately and efficiently while following instructions and collaborating with team members, supervisors, and other departments. Follow all applicable safety, food safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by maintenance lead. Requirements 6 months of work experience in the last 24 months Ability to obtain and maintain certification to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent training in a mechanical trade preferred. Previous facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, building maintenance, construction, or related experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Ability to stand and walk continuously for up to 12 hours per shift. Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel, reach overhead, and push or pull objects. Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Rarely lift more than 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical support. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, humidity levels, and weather conditions. Ability to work around moving machinery and other industrial equipment. Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and other manufacturing environmental conditions. Ability to work at elevated heights using ladders, lifts, and access platforms as required. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety requirements. Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 180 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
