Job Title:
Skilled Mechanic Job Description We are seeking Mechanical Ship Repair Technicians to support our ship repair projects. This hands-on position involves working aboard active vessels, where you'll utilize your strong mechanical skills to perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection preparation, and reassembly of shipboard mechanical systems. Responsibilities Perform mechanical maintenance and repair aboard ships. Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble low-temperature fresh water coolers. Remove plates and gaskets, clean components, and reinstall and seal systems. Replace nozzles on high-pressure air flasks. Perform blue lining and boiler-related work, including opening boilers, cleaning internal components, and preparing equipment for inspection. Use hand tools and power tools daily. Follow all shipyard safety requirements and inspection standards. Collaborate with supervisors, inspectors, and shipyard personnel to ensure quality work. Essential Skills Mechanical experience in ship repair, industrial maintenance, or heavy equipment. Ability to work aboard ships and in industrial environments. Comfortable using hand tools and performing physical work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working in ship repair preferred, but not required. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 5:45 AM to 2:15 PM with overtime available!! Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
