Primary Function:

This is a proficient level position in the Mechanic Reliability Department to perform highly diversified duties to repair and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment. (i.e. building maintenance, machinery repairs, welding, pipefitting, mobile mechanics, etc.). Demonstrates the ability to lead other team members and perform tasks independently.

Basic Requirements:

1. Meets Essential Physical Requirements of the position. Understand and adhere to all department and general plant safety rules. 3. Understand and adhere to USG RPM Program. 4. Work effectively in a team environment. 5. Possess basic required hand tools. Be available for overtime and emergency call-in as needed. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. 8. High degree of mechanical aptitude, learning capacity and self-motivation. 9. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. Proficient knowledge of industrial equipment and maintenance. Mechanical Repair, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Bearings, Lifting/Rigging, Welding, Pipe Fitting, etc. Basic papermaking process knowledge and how areas of responsibility affect production. 12. Must be capable of carrying on-call phone and working weekends. Must satisfy requirements of Mechanic 2 position. 14. No significant performance/ attendance infractions within the last 6 months. 15. Must be able to perform all tasks in the subsequent positions. 16. Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements for each position to be considered trained. 17. Must know, understand, and follow all applicable model programs plus general plant, department, and job specific safety rules. 18. Must be able to protect your own personal safety and the safety of others who may be in your work area. 19. Must adhere to applicable responsibilities within the plant's emergency response program [First-aid, fire, evacuation, etc.) 20. Must actively participate in safety program components such as Safety huddles, USG stretching program, BBS, Take 5's, incident investigations, inspections, and submission of safety improvement ideas. 21. Must be able to maintain be proactive to improve good housekeeping practices. 22. Must be able to prevent damage to company equipment and materials in areas of assigned responsibility and report damages, incidents, and injuries immediately, when they occur. 23. Complete LEAD training as required and all applicable advanced training courses. 24. Collaborate with direct supervisors and department leadership as well as Safety Team representatives. 25. Must be able to perform this job safely and actively participate in all safety programs. Understand your surroundings and the potential dangers within your work areas . Job Procedures and Requirements:

Perform routine mechanical repairs without need for supervision. 2. Possess knowledge and ability to analyze, troubleshoot and complete repair of routine/non-routine equipment with limited supervision, assistance, and leadership (including bearings, refiner plates, pulper work, pump changes, roll change). Possessing basic knowledge of Laser Alignment, Vibration Analysis, Infrared Thermography, carpentry, pipefitting, ect. and the ability to employ it where applicable. Must possess a thorough knowledge of industrial rigging techniques and devices including crane operation (having completed multiple picks). Must know intermediate maintenance terminology; basic understanding of the plant layout and major equipment (basic bearing terminology, pump terminology, roll terminology, motor terminology, plant locations). Proficient and able to effectively operate all machine shop and Mobile equipment (grinders, drill press, band saw, bobcat, hose machine, fork trucks, Arial lifts). Completed in Mechanic 2 and still employing in jobs. Must have a basic understanding of the USG RPM model program (storeroom operation/parts check out, work orders). Completed in Mechanic 2 and still employing in jobs. Must have basic welding repair and fabrication knowledge (basic welder assembly, material usage basic, assisted in fabrication projects). Completed in Mechanic 2. Must be familiar with the basics of maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems (basic knowledge of hose application, assisted on repairs of hydraulic and pneumatic systems). Completed in Mechanic 2 and still employing in jobs. Must understand the EAM and Safety database (completed VWIs, SOCs, LOTOs, Confined Space Entries, locate parts in EAM, locate work orders, enter crafts man feedback, enter a Work Request). Must understand the use of equipment manuals for troubleshooting (employed an equipment manual for research and repair of equipment). 11. Must complete Mechanic 3 Competency Requirements (all the above). Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
