Final Assembler / Final Assembly Mechanic Job Description This hands-on role focuses on assembling, installing, and testing heavy lift and material handling equipment using mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. You will work from engineering drawings and technical documentation to build large, complex equipment across multiple product lines, ensuring each unit meets strict quality and safety standards. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret blueprints, and a commitment to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Assemble, install, and test heavy lift and material handling equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, and product specifications. Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assembly on newly manufactured equipment, which accounts for approximately 95% of the role. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair used equipment as needed, which accounts for approximately 5% of the role. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and technical drawings to determine appropriate assembly methods, sequences, and layouts. Install and connect hydraulic components, including hydraulic lines, as well as electrical systems and mechanical assemblies. Carry out electrical assembly tasks such as control panel wiring and component installation using hand and power tools. Inspect completed assemblies to verify compliance with quality standards, product specifications, and safety requirements. Utilize a wide range of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and other assembly equipment safely and effectively. Build and assemble hydraulic components for heavy equipment, ensuring proper fit, function, and reliability. Perform mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving to identify and resolve assembly and performance issues. Work across multiple product lines and adapt to changing production priorities and demands. Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve assembly issues and support continuous process improvement. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility safety practices. Wear appropriate protective footwear, including steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards, as required for the role. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, heavy equipment assembly, equipment manufacturing, automotive assembly, diesel equipment, or related industries. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ideally gained in military, automotive, heavy equipment, or similar environments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and technical drawings. Experience working with hand tools and power tools in an assembly or manufacturing setting. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to assemble, position, and lift large mechanical components safely. Comfort working on multiple product lines and adapting to changing production demands. Attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work effectively with hydraulic components and systems; direct hydraulic experience is preferred but not required. Reliable use of measurement tools and assembly equipment to ensure accurate builds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assembling heavy equipment, industrial machinery, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or specialty vehicles. Experience working with jib cranes and overhead cranes in an assembly or manufacturing environment. Personal hand tools available for daily use are highly preferred. Welding, fabrication, or machining experience is a plus. Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, hydraulic lines, and control panel wiring. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams such as production, engineering, and quality. Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient work area. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will work on large mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and lifting equipment such as cranes. The setting emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with a requirement to wear appropriate protective footwear, specifically steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sherwood, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
