Welder / Fabricator Job Description This role is ideal for an experienced welder and fabricator who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work. You will use MIG and dual shield welding techniques to join and fabricate thick steel components, interpret blueprints and weld symbols, and support efficient, safe operations on the shop floor. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to meet production goals and maintain high safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to determine welding specifications, layouts, and assembly requirements. Utilize MIG and dual shield welding techniques to efficiently join metal components, including thick mild and raw steel up to 3 inches. Perform manual and semi-automatic welding processes and maintain the capability to obtain welding certifications. Set up, operate, and adjust welding equipment, including running 0.52 wire, to achieve consistent, high-quality welds. Operate cranes safely to position, lift, and secure materials and assemblies during welding and fabrication activities. Use hand tools and power tools to perform fitting, assembly, and fabrication tasks in support of production requirements. Inspect welding equipment, tools, and work areas regularly to ensure optimal performance, cleanliness, and safety. Perform routine maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment and assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and hydraulic lines. Collaborate with team members to meet project timelines, production targets, and safety standards. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear with metatarsal guards. Maintain accurate workmanship and quality standards, ensuring welds and assemblies meet required specifications. Pass the employers weld test and adhere to all company policies related to safety, quality, and attendance. Essential Skills 25 years of welding and fabrication experience, preferably in a fast-paced production environment. At least 2 years of professional MIG and dual shield welding experience. Proven experience running 0.52 wire and welding on thick mild/raw steel up to 3 inches. Ability to perform manual and semi-automatic welding processes and maintain certification-level skills. Strong ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols. Fitting experience, including aligning, positioning, and securing components prior to welding. Experience with assembly work involving steel components. Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in welding and fabrication. Ability to operate cranes safely to move and position materials and assemblies. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, hydraulic lines, and mechanical troubleshooting. Strong commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work. Ability to pass a comprehensive weld test. Additional Skills & Qualifications Capability of obtaining and maintaining relevant welding certifications. Experience working in a structured production or manufacturing environment. Solid shop math skills for measuring, layout, and verification of dimensions. Comfort working with thick steel materials and heavy equipment. Work Environment This position operates in a production shop environment with a regular schedule from Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will work around heavy steel materials, welding equipment, cranes, and various hand and power tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sherwood, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
