• Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
• Job Description
• This role focuses on assembling refrigeration cases and related sub-assemblies such as tanks, canopies, base frames, hardware kits, and plenums. You will use hand and power tools to build units to completion by following detailed work orders and blueprints, ensuring products meet quality and safety standards.
• Responsibilities
• + Complete full refrigeration cases and partial sub-assemblies, including tanks, canopies, base frames, hardware kits, plenums, and other assigned parts.

+ Read, understand, and follow work orders and assembly instructions, including "A" orders, to ensure accurate and timely completion of products.

+ Identify all parts used on the assigned product line and correctly determine their placement on the product.

+ Identify and properly use power tools and hand tools required for the assigned product line.

+ Perform a wide range of assembly functions using hand and power tools, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

+ Use work order information to identify parts and part descriptions, ensuring correct components are used for each build.

+ Apply information related to material gauging and dimensioning to assemble components accurately.

+ Read and use rulers, tape measures, metal squares, and other measuring instruments to verify dimensions and alignment.

+ Fasten parts together using bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, and other fasteners to create secure assemblies.

+ Work at different workstations as production needs change, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

+ Collaborate as a member of an assembly team to build units to full completion, supporting team goals and production targets.

+ Perform appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling to ensure safe and efficient operation.

+ Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

+ Handle and move cases and assemblies, including pushing and pulling heavy units, in a safe and controlled manner.

• Essential Skills
• + Prior assembly experience in a manufacturing, production, or light industrial environment.

+ Ability to read and comprehend work orders, including detailed "A" orders and basic blueprint or schematic information.

+ Mechanical aptitude with strong hands-on skills for mechanical assembly and repair tasks.

+ Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in an assembly setting.

+ Ability to identify parts, part descriptions, and their correct placement on assigned product lines.

+ Ability to read and interpret rulers, tape measures, metal squares, and other measuring instruments.

+ Comfort working on an assembly line or in a production environment with repetitive tasks.

+ Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including bending, twisting, and lifting from awkward positions or tight spaces.

+ Ability to push and pull cases ranging from approximately 200 to 800 pounds repetitively.

+ Capability to stand for extended periods, use hands to handle tools and materials, and frequently walk and reach with hands and arms.

+ Ability to occasionally sit, stoop, and kneel while performing assembly tasks.

+ Clear communication skills to talk and hear in a busy production environment and follow verbal instructions.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• + Experience with mechanical assembly of refrigeration units, electrical assemblies, or similar equipment.

+ Background in general labor or light industrial work, including production and assembly line operations.

+ Basic blueprint reading skills to support accurate assembly and part identification.

+ Experience performing minor repairs or adjustments on equipment or tooling.

+ Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative assembly team.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in all assembly work.

+ Willingness to rotate between different workstations and tasks as production needs change.

• Work Environment
• This position is based in a very clean manufacturing plant environment at the second of three locations in the South Richmond area.

The facility offers organized workstations equipped with hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and assembly fixtures. Work is primarily performed standing, with frequent walking and reaching, and occasional sitting, stooping, and kneeling. The role involves handling heavy cases and assemblies, including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling units weighing several hundred pounds. The environment is production-focused, team-oriented, and safety-conscious, with clear processes and preventive maintenance routines that support efficient and reliable operations.

• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $20.

50 - $20.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
