Job Description

The City of Van Buren is now accepting applications for a full-time street department position at the Van Buren Street Department. All applicants must be able to work a variety of physical labor duties outside year-round. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. Applicants may be subject to a background check. Applications can be obtained on Indeed or www.cityofvanburenar.gov , or at the City Complex Building, 1003 Broadway Street, Van Buren, AR. Street Maintenance Worker Job Purpose:
To perform manual labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, and right-of-ways.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Street Repair:
Assists with patching potholes, laying asphalt, shoveling gravel, and repairing concrete streets and sidewalks.
Drainage Maintenance:
Cleans, cuts, fits, and repairs stormwater pipes, culverts, and ditches.
Manual Labor:
Operates light equipment such as weed eaters, chainsaws, jackhammers, and mowers.
Safety Adherence:
Follows all safety and security standards, including setting up traffic cones and signs.
Routine Maintenance:
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Other Duties:
Assists with debris removal, sweeping, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
