JOB TITLE

Maintenance Worker Street/Storm Pay Range:

$33,518 - $51,953 GENERAL

DESCRIPTION

Semi-skilled maintenance work of City buildings, property and other facilities and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of assigned facilities including parks, landscape, and buildings. Individual works directly under the Director of Transportation and Public Works.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs general and semi-skilled building maintenance, repairs and renovation work including painting, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical and air conditioning. Perform traffic operations maintenance. Repair road washouts. Mow right of ways, alleys and other city facilities. Responsible for trash/debris removal from all roadways. May be required to erect barricades, and tacks reflectors onto barricades, assist in patching roads. Performs new construction of rooms and small buildings. Maintains and repairs streets, sidewalks and street signs. Maintains and repairs City storm water system. Performs tree trimming functions, lawn, and landscaping maintenance. Maintains City irrigation systems. Operates heavy equipment to include street sweeping Assists in normal cleanup activities. Performs traffic control tasks. Performs custodial duties Handles work orders. Works with customers on complaints. Attendance is an essential function of this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

AND ABILITIES

1. Knowledge of safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to work. 2. Knowledge of shop mathematics and basic record keeping practices. 3. Knowledge of basic painting, plumbing and tools and techniques. 4. Knowledge of sprinkler and irrigation systems, of application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. 5. Knowledge of general repair and maintenance techniques to keep buildings, playground equipment and facilities in good repair. 6. Ability to perform manual labor, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions. 7.

Depending upon assignment:

Ability to work long and/or late nights and early mornings. 8. Knowledge of the equipment, tools, and supplies required to accomplish all operations. 9. Ability to read, write and follow directions 10. Knowledge of City requirements in safety and operations. 11. Knowledge of equipment and maintenance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. High school graduation required. 2. Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic certification required within 6 months.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

1. Valid Florida's Drivers License

Lifting Environmental Conditions:
