The City of Pomona is looking for dedicated individuals to fill Maintenance Worker I (Custodial) positions in our Community Services department. The Community Services Division has two opportunities available, which are classified as at-will, hourly/part-time positions eligible for Worker's Compensation and sick leave only. Hourly/part-time positions are limited to an average of 20 hours per week and less than 1,000 hours in a twelve (12) month period. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess one (1) year of related experience in maintenance and/or custodial. License or Certificates Must possess and maintain a valid California Class "C" driver's license and have a good driving record. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following skills: Familiarity with common tools and equipment used in custodial work. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, as well as, read and write basic English. Lift objects up to 50 lbs.Competencies:

Provide custodial maintenance at various community centers including swimming facilities. Examples of duties include maintaining restrooms, emptying trash cans, sweeping and mopping of floors, assist with stripping and waxing hard surface floors. Provide equipment set up and tear down for City sponsored special events, such as mobile stages, tables, chairs, bleachers, heavy movie screens, and sound systems. Set up and monitor Community Centers' rentals. Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities. Maintain inventories of supplies; deliver supplies, equipment, and furniture to City facilities.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Work hours vary by assignment and may be assigned to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, confining work space, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards; ability to travel to different sites and locations; must be available to work varied work hours, weekends and holidays.SELECTION PROCESS
