POSITION SUMMARY
Performs various routine maintenance and repair on air conditioning, plumbing, heating, gas, electric and other facilities systems.
DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. The following tasks are considered essential functions of the position. To perform the job successfully an employee must possess the abilities and aptitude to perform each duty proficiently. Installs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain heating, water, gas and drainage systems; caulks leaks; opens clogged drains; repairs boilers. Keeps electrical equipment, such as wiring, motors, switches, and electrical mechanisms in good repair; replaces defective wiring and makes connections to new electrical installations; replaces parts in motors, cleans and oils motors; repairs electrical fixtures, and replaces light bulbs. Maintains air conditioning and refrigeration equipment in good working order; inspects mechanical controls and instruments to ensure efficient operation and adjusts controls as necessary; performs routine maintenance of equipment. Performs routine carpentry work such as building and fitting shelves, repairing doors, and making simple repairs to furniture or fittings. May perform routine welding, using torch in repairing of cracked metal objects. Performs routine manual labor such as moving furniture and replacing light fixtures. Paints, stains, redecorates walls, woodwork and fixtures of buildings; mixes paint, matches color, applies paint using rollers, brushes or sprayers as appropriate to job; prepares surfaces by removing old finish using scraper, chemicals or sander; fills holes, joints and cracks with plaster. Determines supplies and equipment required and goes to supplier and purchases same; purchases/picks up other parts, supplies or equipment for Parish as necessary. Performs related duties as required, such as slurry sealing driveways, testing fire equipment for usability and making/cementing small projects such as repairing holes in concrete. Performs custodial / janitorial tasks. Actively supports philosophy and goals of the Church and participates in Church activities including attending services, assisting with ministries and other activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically: Minimum of three years experience working in facilities maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
Air conditioning and refrigeration equipment sufficient to monitor and repair. Basic carpentry, plumbing, welding, and painting.
Skills:
Basic computer skills including fundamental abilities like navigating an operating system (Windows/macOS), managing files and folders, using internet browsers, and utilizing software like word processors and email Ability to: Make basic electrical repairs. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Frequently perform tasks requiring climbing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and bending. Stand and walk for sustained periods of time. Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
