Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure the optimal operation and upkeep of our facilities. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of building systems and equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and comfort for all occupants. Your expertise will help prevent downtime, extend the lifespan of assets, and support a smooth-running environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic setting while contributing to the overall success of our organization.
QUALIFICIATIONS
A maintenance job description includes performing routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems and equipment, such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Key responsibilities involve completing preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, and performing general upkeep like painting, cleaning, and groundskeeping. Accurate record-keeping and adhering to safety standards are also crucial. Maintenance personnel must show a capacity for flexibility regarding learning, potentially changing and developing procedures and computer programs. Maintenance personnel are to have the personal qualities of: good attendance, able to hold confidence, punctuality, dependability, flexibility, resourcefulness, be self-directed, sensitive to needs and feelings of others, tact; patience.
SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS
Each employee of Valley Life Community Church must have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living. The employee shall be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others.
This includes:
  • being committed to God's biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40).
  • be an attending and active member in good standing in a evangelical church.
  • be in wholehearted agreement with the Constitution and Bylaws of the Assemblies of God.
  • understand the conduct at the office and home must reflect a leadership standard.
This includes social media and personal interactions with the congregation and community (1 Tim. 3:7).
SUMMARY:
A reliable and experienced maintenance worker is needed to perform a variety of essential upkeep tasks to ensure our facility is safe, functional, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, solid technical knowledge across multiple trades, and a keen eye for detail
NATURE AND SCOPE
Under the supervision of Business Administrator, perform assignments of a regular and recurring nature proficiently and independently. Work is normally performed in accordance with established and well-known policies, practices and procedures. Assistance may be needed from time to time on other days.
WORK HOURS
40 Hours per week. Employee may be asked to work more hours if workload or if job coverage is needed. Occasionally, employee may also be sent home early if the workload is light.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
1.
Inspection and troubleshooting:
a. Regularly inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify potential issues and troubleshoot problems. 2.
Repairs:
a. Respond to and complete work orders for general repairs, including plumbing (e.g., leaky faucets, clogged drains), electrical (e.g., replacing light bulbs, faulty switches), and structural issues (e.g., minor drywall repair, carpentry and roof). 3.
Preventative maintenance:
a. Implement and perform regular, scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment and systems operate efficiently. 4.
General upkeep:
a. Perform tasks such as painting, cleaning, changing light bulbs, and general facility upkeep. 5.
Groundskeeping:
a. Maintain the exterior of the property by tasks like weed control, trimming hedges, and maintaining trash schedule 6.
Safety and compliance:
a. Ensure all safety systems (like fire alarms) are functional and comply with all safety regulations and building codes. 7.
Record keeping:
a. Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance and repair tasks performed. Record in TEAMS 8. Inventory Log a. Maintain a weekly inventory log of all supplies and equipment 9. Equipment Upkeep a. Service, clean, and properly store all hand and power tools after use. 10. Project Assistance a. Assist skilled tradespeople or external contractors (e.g., master electricians, plumbers, roofers) with complex repairs or renovations. 11. Event Setup & Teardown a. Assist with arranging chairs, tables, staging, and basic equipment for Sunday worship services, weddings, funerals, ministry meetings, and special community events. 12. Janitorial Support a. Supplement the cleaning staff or volunteers by ensuring high-traffic areas (restrooms, sanctuary, kitchen, fellowship hall) are tidy, trash receptacles are emptied, and supplies are restocked, especially around major services. 13.
Security & Access:
Manage the locking and unlocking of church facilities for scheduled events, and ensure all outdoor security and walkway lighting is functioning properly. 14. Physical Requirements a. Ability to work comfortably outdoors in various seasonal weather conditions b. Stamina to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods. c. Physical capability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull heavy items (up to 50 lbs), such as folding tables, large trash bins, and bags of soil or salt. d. Comfortable working on ladders to change sanctuary lightbulbs, replace filters, or clear gutters.

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
