Position Overview:
The Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times. This includes supporting the EVS Director with the upkeep of the building's interior and exterior, including fixtures and mechanical systems, while also maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in compliance with current regulations, established policies, and supervisor guidance. Maintain plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems according to established procedures, manufacturer's instructions and county, state, and federal laws and regulations, as applicable. Respond promptly to emergency repair requests Check Maintenance Log. Routinely and promptly repair and document corrections Maintain all interior fixtures in good repair including walls, woodwork, handrails, nurse call systems, light fixtures, furniture, etc., in accordance with established procedures Assure the preventative maintenance schedule is met and properly recorded: Ensure the preventative maintenance schedule is followed and accurately documented. This includes regular inspection and servicing of mechanical patient lifts, kitchen grease traps, dryers and washers, refrigerators and freezers, dishwashers, ice machines, shower chairs, hair dryers, shower hoses, suction machines, generators, the call system, heating and cooling systems, and all community vehicles. Practice safety procedures of the department and community. Receive and follow janitorial schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established janitorial policies and procedures. Clean and buff hallways, laundry/utility rooms, kitchen, dining/activity rooms and patient rooms as scheduled. Perform routine cleaning of carpets, upholstery, wheel chairs, barrels, shower chairs, exhaust/cooling fans, etc. Replace burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc. Perform unscheduled janitorial tasks as directed. Dust handrails, hallway bumper trim pieces.
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent preferred Varied days; must be able to work on weekends 1 year experience in at least one of the following fields: General maintenance (institution or building), Carpentry or community construction, Plumbing and/or electrical, Appliance maintenance in an assisted, senior living or related healthcare setting. Familiarity with commercial cleaning techniques and procedures. Willingness to perform routine and unscheduled janitorial tasks
