Full Job Description Maintenance Assistant Victoria Care Center Full-Time Pay Range:
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour (DOE) Join Our Team at Victoria Care Center Victoria Care Center is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Assistant to help ensure our skilled nursing facility remains safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in facility maintenance with a strong working knowledge of HVAC systems and/or plumbing and electrical repairs. Position Summary The Maintenance Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining the physical environment of our skilled nursing facility. This position helps ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents by maintaining building systems, responding to maintenance requests, conducting preventative maintenance, and supporting compliance with healthcare facility regulations and life safety standards. The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Maintenance Director and department managers to ensure resident rooms, common areas, equipment, grounds, and facility systems are properly maintained and operating efficiently. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSkilled Nursing Facility Responsibilities Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Respond promptly to maintenance requests in resident rooms and common areas. Assist with compliance related to state, federal, OSHA, and Life Safety Code requirements. Support facility preparedness during inspections and surveys. Maintain emergency systems including generators, fire alarm systems, call light systems, and emergency lighting. Monitor facility temperatures and HVAC systems to ensure resident comfort and regulatory compliance. Assist with room turnovers, resident moves, and facility projects. Ensure walkways, handrails, doors, lighting, and flooring are maintained to prevent accidents and injuries. Report safety concerns and hazards immediately. General Maintenance Responsibilities Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues. Complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner. Perform painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and general building repairs. Maintain facility grounds, parking areas, and exterior spaces. Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs throughout the facility. Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment. Maintain maintenance records, logs, and work order documentation. Ensure tools and maintenance areas remain organized and safe. Participate in emergency maintenance response and on-call responsibilities as needed. QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year of maintenance, building operations, or facilities experience. Experience with HVAC systems. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or carpentry repairs. Ability to read and follow maintenance schedules, work orders, and safety procedures. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills. Preferred HVAC certification or technical training. Plumbing and/or electrical experience. Experience working in healthcare, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or long-term care facilities. Knowledge of Life Safety Code standards and healthcare facility regulations. Valid California Driver's License.
