Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and dependable Porter/Maintenance Worker to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and overall facility appearance, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff and visitors alike. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning tasks across various areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness standards. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners to ensure optimal floor care and sanitation. Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning processes by following established safety protocols and handling procedures. Conduct minor maintenance tasks such as painting, repairs, and equipment upkeep to support facility operations. Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling of furniture, supplies, or equipment while adhering to safe lifting practices. Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, kitchens, hallways, and common areas in accordance with health regulations. Support facilities maintenance by reporting issues such as leaks, electrical problems, or safety hazards promptly. Provide excellent customer service by responding courteously to staff or visitor requests related to cleanliness or facility needs. Follow safety protocols diligently during all tasks to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and others. Experience Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings is preferred. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and proper handling safety procedures is highly desirable. Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers is a plus. Knowledge of general facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs and painting is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects safely and follow safety protocols consistently. Customer service skills that enable effective communication with staff and visitors. Previous porter or maintenance worker roles that involved routine cleaning, custodial duties, or light repairs will be considered an asset.
