Job Description

Position Summary:
Assists and/or works independently of the Head Mechanic in the repairing and maintenance of various gasoline and diesel-powered golf maintenance equipment. The Assistant Mechanic also assists in maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building, contributes to a preventative maintenance program, and warrants safety procedures a top priority by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Head Mechanic in both preventative and curative maintenance procedures. Completes daily service records on all equipment that is worked on. Helps oversee that all equipment is kept in a clean and organized manner. Helps oversee the maintenance shop and compound areas are kept clean and organized. Works with the Head Mechanic to prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work. Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment. Keeps maintenance equipment fueled, oiled, and inspected; and performs related tasks as required. Sharpens mowers with grinders.
Qualifications:
Requires a working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment, the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment. Must have at least one year of recent mechanic experience on a golf course facility. Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written direction. Requires a mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred. Must have 1-2 years of recent mechanic experience on a golf course facility.
Certifications/Licenses:
None Required Physical Demand:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and operate; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, push, pull, and occasionally lift and/or move 50lbs.
Work Environment:
Outside work for extended periods of time and precautions should be taken. 8/2022
