Job Description
This position is responsible for the overall appearance, maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of the town owned park, grounds, streetscapes, rights-of-way, public buildings, recreational facilities, landscaping, railroad corridor, and special event venues. The Maintenance Contractor performs preventative maintenance, groundskeeping, light facilities maintenance, event support, vendor coordination, and monthly reporting while serving as a visible ambassador for the Town. Essential Responsibilities 1. Grounds & Landscaping 2. Maintain all public parks, playgrounds, pavilions, flower beds, planters, right-of-way, railroad areas and public landscapes. 3. Mow, edge, trim, weed, spray weeds where appropriate, prune trees and shrubs, rake/blow debris and remove litter. 4. Plant seasonal flowers, trees and shrubs as directed. 5. Maintain creek banks, culverts, guardrails and fence lines. Facilities Maintenance 1. Maintain Town buildings, park structures, restrooms, picnic shelters, playgrounds, grills, tables, benches, fencing and walkways. 2. Perform pressure washing, painting, light repairs and preventative maintenance. 3. Monitor public restrooms daily and maintain adequate supplies. Operations 1. Inspect Town assets regularly and identify maintenance or safety concerns. 2. Maintain tools and equipment, track inventory and notify the City Manager when supplies are needed. 3. Coordinate emergency response to weather-related cleanup when requested. Events & Community 1. Support Heritage Days and all Town-sponsored events with setup, teardown, decorations and logistics. 2. Assist with seasonal decorating and beautification projects. Administration 1. Attend monthly Town Council meetings when requested. 2. Prepare a monthly written report summarizing completed work, upcoming priorities and recommendations. Qualifications 1. Experience in commercial landscaping, parks maintenance, facilities maintenance or public works. 2. Knowledge of safe operation of mowers, trimmers, blowers and hand tools. 3. Ability to work independently, prioritize work and respond to changing needs. 4. Strong customer service and communication skills. 5. Valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all seasons. Performance Expectations 1. Maintain Town facilities in a clean, safe and attractive condition. 2. Respond promptly to maintenance requests. 3. Complete preventative maintenance on schedule. 4. Represent the Town professionally with residents, visitors and vendors. 5. Provide accurate monthly reports and recommendations for future improvements. Work Environment Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions; standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting and operation of power equipment are routine.
