Golf Course Maintenance Worker Job Overview We are seeking a hardworking, dependable, and proactive Golf Course Maintenance Worker to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining the golf course grounds, landscaping, turf, irrigation systems, and surrounding facilities to ensure a safe, attractive, and high-quality environment for golfers, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, has strong attention to detail, and possesses practical knowledge of landscaping, turf care, mechanical equipment, irrigation, and general maintenance. This is an active, hands-on position that requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team in varying weather conditions. Duties and Responsibilities Perform daily golf course maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, pruning, weeding, and general landscaping. Maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, landscaped areas, and other golf course grounds. Operate and maintain turf and groundskeeping equipment, including riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles, and other power equipment. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and minor repairs on golf course equipment and machinery. Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, controllers, and irrigation lines. Troubleshoot irrigation issues and assist with repairs to ensure proper watering and turf health. Assist with fertilizing, aerating, overseeding, planting, and other turf and horticultural practices as directed. Identify common plants, trees, turf varieties, weeds, and landscape problems. Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf-care products safely and in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures. Perform basic tree care, including pruning, removal of branches, and general tree and landscape maintenance. Maintain sand bunkers, paths, cart areas, drainage systems, and other golf course features. Perform hardscape repairs and general construction or facility maintenance as needed. Assist with storm cleanup, debris removal, drainage maintenance, and seasonal grounds preparation. Operate snow-removal equipment and perform winter maintenance where applicable. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly store tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials. Follow all workplace, equipment, chemical, and safety procedures. Report equipment problems, irrigation issues, turf concerns, hazards, and maintenance needs to supervisors. Provide courteous and professional service to golfers, members, guests, and other staff when working on or around the course. Perform other golf course maintenance and groundskeeping duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, horticulture, turf management, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of turfgrass care, landscaping, horticulture, and general grounds maintenance practices. Experience operating lawn mowers, trimmers, power tools, utility vehicles, and other grounds maintenance equipment. Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs. Familiarity with irrigation systems and troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of plant, tree, turf, and weed identification. Understanding of proper pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer handling and application procedures. Ability to perform physical outdoor work for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality playing conditions. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Strong commitment to safety and proper use of equipment and personal protective equipment. Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules as required by golf course operations. Valid driver's license preferred or required depending on position responsibilities. Experience with snow removal and winter golf course maintenance is preferred where applicable.
