Parks Department Starting Salary:
$52,923 Position Summary The United City of Yorkville is seeking a qualified individual to join its Parks Department as a Maintenance Worker I. This entry-level position performs a variety of outdoor maintenance duties in the Athletic, Turf, and Playground Divisions. Evening, weekend, and winter snow removal work is required. Essential Duties Maintain parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and other City-owned properties. Mow, trim, edge, prune, weed, mulch, plant, fertilize, seed, and water landscaped areas. Perform trash collection and general park beautification. Operate and maintain equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, chainsaws, infield groomers, and other landscaping equipment. Drive trucks and trailers and load/unload equipment. Assist with snow plowing and ice control during winter weather. Perform basic mower and equipment maintenance. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. One to three years of park maintenance or related experience preferred, but not required. Mechanical, construction, or small engine repair experience is a plus. Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred or must obtain within 12 months of hire. USDA Operator Pesticide License required within 12 months of hire. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
