You will be responsible for ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of water systems, underground utilities, and municipal infrastructure. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and rigging tools to perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks on water systems, pipelines, and underground utilities. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of water treatment facilities, pipelines, and utility infrastructure to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting, climbing structures, ladder use, and outdoor work in various weather conditions. Utilize power tools and hand tools for repairs, welding, equipment maintenance, and installation projects while adhering to safety protocols. Locate underground utilities using utility locating equipment such as voltmeters and other detection devices to prevent service disruptions during excavation or construction activities. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, safety inspections, and operational logs for water systems and utility infrastructure. Provide on-call coverage for emergency repairs related to water outages or utility issues to ensure continuous service delivery. Follow all safety procedures rigorously while working with high voltage equipment or performing tasks involving climbing or working at heights with bucket trucks or ladders. Support construction site activities including rigging, excavation support, pipeline installation or repair projects while maintaining compliance with safety standards. Skills Extensive experience operating heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other construction equipment. Strong mechanical knowledge with proficiency in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, rigging gear, and safety harnesses for various repair tasks. Knowledge of underground utilities location techniques and pipeline systems to prevent damage during excavation activities. Competence in manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting, climbing structures or ladders safely while maintaining balance at all times. Familiarity with water treatment processes and water system operations including pump stations or filtration systems. Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions on construction sites or utility projects. Ability to operate commercial trucks safely across different terrains; valid driver's license required. Knowledge of safety protocols related to high voltage electrical work, underground utilities detection, welding operations and general construction site safety standards. Proficiency with testing instruments such as voltmeters or other diagnostic tools used in utility diagnostics.
