General Function The maintenance/welding assistant shall carry out those duties and activities assigned, which will ensure the effective operations of the class or activity to which they are assigned. Position Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Self-sufficient and require a minimum of supervision or assistance to aid in the care and education of students.
• Two years of work experience directly related to welding (within the last five years).
• Physically capable of performing duties specific to the program area.
• Knowledge of the tools, equipment, tasks, and safety procedures used in the assigned job area. Other Qualifications

• Able to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency vision and goals.

• Must complete and pass required criminal history check. Essential Duties Essential duties shall include, but not be limited to:
• Perform work assigned by the Coordinator of Operations, designee, and in an emergency, by a building administrator.

Preventative maintenance duties which include:

plumbing, HVAC, and electrical repairs. Must be familiar with and be able to repair and maintain door and building hardware, office partitions, classroom and office furniture, do carpentry work, welding, and painting using related equipment.

• Operate, repair and maintain snow removal and lawn mowing equipment. Be able to obtain an OSHA required operator's license for a forklift to unload and move supplies and equipment.
• Move furniture and/or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed.
• Assist by carrying out activities for an individual student or small group of welding students, under the supervision and direction of the classroom instructor.
• Attend building and staff meetings
• Be responsible for aiding the classroom instructor or supervising in the instruction and evaluation of students.
• Provide feedback to the welding classroom instructor on supplies and equipment. Other Duties
• Act as a resource, if needed, to employees, students and the general public and visitors to the NC RESA.
• Possess knowledge of NC RESA;s organization, mission , and philosophy.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Coordinator of Operations and/or administration. Relationships and Commitment The assistant shall demonstrate commitment to the mission of the Newaygo County RESA through:
