Maintain and repairing sewage pumping stations, assisting with street and storm sewer maintenance on occasion. Maplewood's Public Works Sanitary Sewer Maintenance position is full-time. The ideal candidate will be able to work cooperatively as a member of the team, develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, willing to learn new skills and contribute towards meeting the City's strategic objectives by maintaining the City's infrastructure. The candidate should have knowledge in a wide range of duties of sanitary sewer collection systems. Class B license is required. Hourly Range:
$26.01 - $36.20 Maintenance II Worker (Class A & 7 years of experience) 2026 Hourly range: $31.47 - $39.82 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conducts visual inspections and uses lamping to check sewer mains and utility structures. Oversees and operates a jetter, rodder or combination jetvac, or flushes with water to clean sanitary sewer mains and wetwells to prevent buildup. Responds to emergency callouts, on short notice, for sewer backups, sewer main breaks, lift station malfunctions, broken castings, alarms, etc. Operates and maintains sewage pumping systems including lubrication, valve exercising, repairing or replacing fans or heaters, charging batteries, replacing fuses, and periodic pump packing, pump overhaul and motor replacement; cleans as needed. Operates a variety of department equipment including: jetters, rodders, jetvacs, generators, pumps, chain saws, shovels, cutting torches, cutsaws, jackhammers, backhoes, loaders, lawn mowers, and one-ton trucks or larger Collects and records data and information regarding the infrastructure system and operations and maintenance activities, prepares supporting information and documentation for activities, programs, and equipment related to the Sanitary Sewer Maintenance Division. Reads meters and records information in lift stations, monitors controls and alarms, and calibrates pumping rates; operates portable electric sets and pumps. Rebuilds, maintains, and repairs sewer mains, utility structures, and lateral services. Maintains grounds around lift stations, fire stations and hydrants including snow removal, mowing, and occasional tree trimming. Sets up temporary lift stations and pumps and hauls sewage when lift stations become inoperable. Adjusts utility structures to accommodate paving of streets. May make minor repairs to equipment, flags and paints fire hydrants. Prepares daily reports on maintenance and cleaning accomplished, trouble spots, inspections completed, and sewer backup calls. Completes the confined space report as required. Performs minor welding and part or equipment fabrication. Locates sewer lines for "gopher-one" calls. Performs other duties as needed or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Maintenance Worker I Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Commercial Driver's License (Class B CDL) with Tanker and Airbrake Endorsements at time of hire and maintain thereafter. Must have no suspensions or revocations on driver's license records within the past three years. At least one year of experience with sanitary sewer or equivalent experience High School Diploma or GED Must meet D.O.T. Drug and Alcohol testing requirements. Maintenance Worker II Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL). Must have no suspensions or revocations on driver's license records within the past three years. At least 7 years of sanitary sewer experience High school diploma or GED Must meet D.O.T.
