Heavy Civil Construction Position Overview Gregory Construction is seeking a dependable and hardworking Facilities Maintenance & General Shop Laborer to support our shop and operations team in Columbus, Mississippi . This is a hands-on position responsible for helping keep our shop, yard, vehicles, equipment, and facilities clean, organized, safe, and ready for daily operations . The role will assist mechanics and other team members with equipment preparation while also handling routine facility maintenance, lawn care, vehicle cleaning, and general labor duties. Key Responsibilities Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and surrounding facility areas. Perform general cleaning, sweeping, trash removal, and organization throughout the shop. Assist mechanics with basic equipment preparation, cleaning, staging, and organization. Help prepare tools, equipment, and materials for construction job sites. Perform routine facility maintenance and minor repairs as assigned. Assist with lawn care and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, blowing, and general property upkeep. Wash and clean company trucks, vehicles, trailers, and equipment. Help organize tools, parts, supplies, and materials within the shop and storage areas. Load, unload, move, and stage equipment and materials as needed. Assist with maintaining job site trailers and other company equipment. Identify facility, equipment, or safety concerns and communicate them to the appropriate team member. Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe working environment. Assist with additional shop, facility, and general labor tasks as needed. Qualifications Previous experience in general labor, construction, facility maintenance, landscaping, shop work, equipment maintenance, or a similar hands-on environment is preferred but not required. Strong work ethic and willingness to perform a variety of tasks. Dependable, punctual, and able to work with limited supervision. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is helpful. Ability to follow instructions and work safely around vehicles, tools, and construction equipment. Strong attention to cleanliness and organization. Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred. High school diploma or GED preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday. Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and move tools, equipment, supplies, and materials. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions.
