Job Description

The Town of Richlands is seeking a self-motivated individual with knowledge to perform routine semi-skilled work in a variety of public services tasks requiring the use of hand tools, power equipment, and some motorized machinery. Work includes assisting in street maintenance, maintenance of public buildings and grounds and a variety of other manual tasks and related assignments. Typical duties involve the safe and effective operation of light motorized equipment used in mowing grass, applying herbicide, and removing residential yard waste debris. Duties may also include street and side walk repair and maintenance. Work in this position is described as heavy, requiring good physical condition to exert force constantly to move objects. Employee is subject to hazards, including mechanical equipment and atmospheric conditions due to exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, and noise. An applicant may have any combination of experience and education sufficient to meet the basic requirements of work and necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid North Carolina Driver's License (Class C) is required. It is preferred, but not required for the applicant to also hold a valid North Carolina CDL License (Class B), which may allow the operation of a leaf collection truck or large truck.
