Job Description

DEFINITION
This position performs skilled work in the maintenance of park grounds and facilities.REPORTS TO
The Crew Leader assigns work in terms of general instructions. Mows grass, edges curbs, and removes leaves; removes tree limbs and dead trees from parks. Operates mowers, blowers, edgers, and weed eaters. Picks up supplies needed to perform daily work activities. Installs and maintains flower beds. Maintains tools and equipment. Assists with litter collection and disposal. Assists in the installation of irrigation systems. Applies herbicides and pesticides. Installs, repairs, and maintains fences. Maintains restrooms. Applies fertilizers. Maintains and repairs sports fields. Installs mulch. Plants trees and shrubs. Assists in equipment set-up and break-down for special events. Preparation of athletic Fields and bathrooms for games. Performs other related duties as assigned.Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina. No experience Needed- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of assigned tools and equipment.
