Job Description

Overview Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is currently seeking a Maintenance Worker III to join the Institute's Facilities Team. Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Worker III will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing central plant equipment. This includes heating hot water boilers, steam boilers, centrifugal chillers, air compressors vacuum pumps and associated support equipment. The individual will also assist with plumbing, HVAC repairs, welding/welding repairs and other related duties and tasks as required or assigned. Will be required to respond in a timely fashion to a variety of alarms to include equipment monitoring systems, HVAC alarms, IT system alarms, and all other related types of notifications. Qualifications Requires a high school diploma, and 4+ years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Prior documented experience working with HVAC-R, plumbing, boiler operations, supply and exhaust fans, pumps, evaporative coolers, air filtration systems, welding certification, gas fired heaters and minor electrical experience is strongly preferred. Must have demonstrated skills in general maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems. This position requires the ability to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed. A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required. The schedule for the position is Thursday through Monday 06:30 am to 3:00 pm. Days off are Tuesday and Wednesday. Physical Requirements Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas. Will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, etc.), reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects that weigh up to 80 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation and perform desk-based computer tasks. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. Will work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.
