CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Elderlee has built the guide rail and highway safety systems protecting East Coast drivers since 1946. We're a fourth-generation, family-owned manufacturer (200,000+ sq ft of steel fabrication, galvanizing, and sign production in upstate NY) — and we're growing. We're hiring an energetic Construction Support Specialist to help our highway construction crews.

PURPOSE OF JOB

The Construction Support Specialist keeps Elderlee's facility, equipment and materials ready so that field operations run safely and without delays. The position covers building and grounds maintenance, repairs, snow and ice removal, and inventory of equipment and supplies. It also prepares, loads and secures job-specific tools and equipment. The Construction Support Specialist delivers materials and equipment to job sites across New York State, so field crews have the resources they need, where and when they need them.

SCHEDULE

Monday to Friday 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM PAY $25 - $30 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage building repairs and cleanliness. Maintain inventories of equipment and supplies. Perform basic building and grounds maintenance. Perform facility snow and ice removal. Set up and load job-specific equipment and tools. Load and deliver material and equipment throughout the state of New York. Additional duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS CDL-B

minimum, CDL-A preferred. General operation and maintenance knowledge of hand tools, electric tools, and pneumatic tools. General operation and maintenance knowledge of small engine powered equipment. Forklift operation experience. Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and building construction standards. Ability to load and unload heavy equipment. Ability to load/unload and secure freight on trucks. Ability to lift 100 pounds. Familiarity with basic building and grounds maintenance. Availability to work overtime when necessary. Ability to work flexible hours (early starts for deliveries) as required by department needs. Availability to work occasional weekend hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma and/or equivalent. Prior vocational training in landscaping, carpentry, or facilities maintenance. Knowledge of OSHA standards, PPE use, and hazard recognition.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees regularly work both indoors and outdoors and are frequently exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and humidity. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, fumes, chemicals, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and power-operated equipment. The noise level in the work environment is frequently moderate to loud. Required personal protective equipment includes metatarsal and steel-toed boots, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, work gloves, high-visibility clothing, and other PPE as required by job duties and work conditions.
