Our Company:

Millcreek Gardens LLC is a wholesale greenhouse and nursery based just outside of Columbus, Ohio. Since our founding in 1978, we have remained a family-owned business dedicated to growing and selling top-quality container-grown perennials, herbs, annuals, ornamental grasses, shrubs, and ferns. We service independent garden centers, landscape contractors, farm markets, and municipalities within a 250-mile radius of Columbus. Our team works hard every day to carry out our mission "To Grow High Quality Plants, People and Relationships."

Facilities Lead:

The Facilities Lead is responsible for overseeing and performing hands-on maintenance and repairs for the physical facilities and equipment at Millcreek. This includes managing and executing a wide range of tasks such as construction, plumbing, electrical work, equipment repairs, fabrication, and general maintenance. The role ensures the upkeep and functionality of all buildings, grounds, equipment, and machinery, and supports the overall operational efficiency of the facility through proactive problem-solving and skilled craftsmanship.

Job Responsibilities include:

(1) Preventative Maintenance and Repairs Maintain and repair company facilities, grounds, and equipment (e.g., buildings, greenhouses, tractors, trucks, golf carts, sprayers, wagons, plant handling equipment, tools) using sound judgment and decision-making. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, irrigation, electrical, and ventilation systems. Handle repairs and upkeep of greenhouses, buildings, and structures, including cleaning, trash removal, mowing, trimming, snow removal, and salting/sanding high-traffic areas. Complete tasks on "Facilities Task Request" forms and inform the Operations Manager upon completion. Order necessary supplies and materials; conducts online research for parts, information, etc. Manage the Monthly Preventative Maintenance (PM) Calendar for the nursery, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule with minimal disruption to operations. Perform painting, spackling, sanding, and cleaning of interior and exterior surfaces as needed. Maintain organized storage of Owner's manuals and accurate maintenance records for buildings and equipment. Maintain clean and neat exterior appearance of all buildings Research and recommend facility improvements to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability. Recommend third-party services for complex repairs or when specialized expertise is needed. (2)

Safety & Compliance:

Execute repairs and operations safely, using required precautions (e.g., lockout/tagout, PPE). Operate company equipment (e.g., tractor, Bobcat, golf carts) in a safe and professional manner. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and surrounding areas. Support and adhere to the company's Safety Program to ensure staff and visitor safety. Wear appropriate PPE at all times Participate in Safety teams and assist with staff safety training as needed. Be on-call 24/7 for emergency situations, or arrange coverage when unavailable. Perform all duties thoroughly, dependably, and safely. (3)

Supply Inventory Management:

Order and maintain the inventory of maintenance supplies, with approval from the Growing Operations Manager. Stock and organize inventory, picking up supplies as needed and ensuring efficient access to materials. Streamline processes to improve work effectiveness and reduce downtime. Conduct quarterly inventory and ensure accurate stock levels. (4) Communication & Reporting Provide regular updates on work goals, project status, and Preventative Maintenance progress. Submit monthly reports detailing progress on the Preventative Maintenance Calendar. Communicate effectively with leadership, staff, and across all departments, both in one-on-one and group settings. Foster open communication by actively listening, valuing diverse perspectives, and sharing relevant maintenance information. Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately. (5)

Teamwork & Collaboration, Professionalism, Exemplary Customer Service, etc. Required Skills Broad knowledge in areas such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, construction, automotive repair, fabrication, and general maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems, small engines, and heating units. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and light equipment. Proficiency in operating equipment such as skid steer loaders, forklifts, compact tractors, Gator/ATVs, and golf carts. Skilled in conducting online research for parts, equipment, and price comparisons. Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience :

At least 2-3 years of experience in a Maintenance position with comparable responsibilities. Experience in horticulture industry preferred.
