POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the ice rink by performing routine maintenance, cleaning and ice resurfacing before, during and after operational hours. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competence and satisfactory performance of these duties. Other duties may be required and assigned. Prepare ice before the ice rink opens to the public and as needed throughout operational hours; resurface the ice at the conclusion of operational hours. Operate ice resurfacing equipment. Perform general cleaning and sanitation of rink and surrounding areas (restrooms, spectator areas, etc.) before, during and at the conclusion of operational times. Maintain and repair equipment, including resurfacing equipment and supplies, benches, tables, heaters, skate assist, skates, etc. Monitor refrigeration system and report issues to supervisor. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, facility procedures and employee handbook. Empty trash cans and remove from the grounds as required. Ensure all overhead lights and Christmas lights are operational and coordinate low light settings with on duty Manager. Ensure all tools and equipment are secured for overnight storage. Open and close tent walls as needed for optimal operations or as directed by the Manager. Assist with the setup and maintenance of the mobile food truck. Support event setup and teardown, including public skating sessions and special events. Access and report all major maintenance needs to supervisor. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment. Knowledge and skill in the use of hand tools, machines and other similar equipment used for divisional purposes. Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Ability to learn a variety of construction and maintenance processes and equipment. Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor. Ability to understand & follow simple oral and/or written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Must be prepared to engage patrons to establish a positive experience at Denison on Ice. Ability to maintain consistent attendance. Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have HS diploma/equivalent. Must have valid driver's license. Must have driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier. Previous experience in facilities or maintenance work preferred. Physical & Work Environment
