Job Description

The City of Lancaster, Texas is seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to serve as Maintenance Worker II - Code within the Neighborhood Services Department. Under the supervision of the Senior Code Officer, this position performs field maintenance and code compliance-related duties throughout the City. Responsibilities include maintaining City rights-of-way, removing litter and illegally dumped materials, monitoring areas known for illegal dumping, removing illegal signs, performing general grounds maintenance, and assisting with residential, commercial, and industrial code compliance inspections. The Maintenance Worker II - Code operates City vehicles, trucks, and trailers to transport equipment and remove debris from assigned locations. The position also assists with cleanup following extreme weather conditions and ensures collected litter and debris are disposed of appropriately. This position regularly works in the field and interacts with residents and City employees regarding concerns encountered during assigned routes and activities. The employee reports issues and feedback to the supervisor and performs additional maintenance, groundskeeping, and code-related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Candidates should be able to perform physically active field work involving litter and debris removal, right-of-way maintenance, illegal dumping cleanup, groundskeeping activities, removal of illegal signs, and other assigned maintenance duties. The position also performs code compliance inspections involving residential, commercial, and industrial properties as assigned by the supervisor. Candidates must be able to operate City vehicles and drive a truck and trailer to transport equipment and illegally dumped materials to and from assigned worksites. The position requires regular travel between assigned locations and interaction with residents and City employees regarding problems or concerns encountered in the field. A valid State Class A Commercial Driver s License (CDL) is required. Driving is a requirement of this position. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
